A motor auction has been part of the business community in Southampton for more than fifty years. It was originally started in 1946 by members of the Brocklehurst family and that tradition has continued to the present day. Jeff Brocklehurst, grandson of one of its founders, is one of the current auctioneers.
The very first auction took place in a tent on an area of ground off Burgess Road where the old Bassett Pub was situated. Due to expanding business, it then moved to a larger site close to the old Lido outdoor swimming pool. There have been various changes over the years, but a motor auction has continued to be a part of the Southampton Motor Trade landscape for more than half a century.
In September 2003, Southampton Motor Auction Millbank Limited held its first auction at its new premises in Millbank Street, Northam. A complete refurbishment of the auction room was completed to accommodate the increasing number of cars passing through our hands. The kitchen and café area has been completely transformed providing an excellent amenity for our customers.
An auction provides a valuable benefit to the community bringing together buyers and sellers within a friendly environment. It provides a quick and easy option for vehicle disposal.
